Yes, the Cannes Film Market this year was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
People predicted a bleak market and a bleak market is what we had.
Sales were scarce, pre-sales almost non-existent.
Even projects with strong names such as Javier Bardem and Rachel Weisz didn’t entice buyers.
The studios are not buying anything at this point and the
few, very few, pick-ups by the smaller U.S. distributors are most
likely going to be screened on VOD simultaneously with their modest theatrical release.★
